The jewellery world has undergone a massive overhaul in the last 4 years with fashion designers like Dolce and Gabbanna, Giorgio Armani, Channel and Gucci all launching their own designer jewellery ranges. However, these fashion designers have, for once, been eclipsed for once by the fashion for ‘design your own bead’ jewellery.
These beaded jewellery companies though are not a new phenomenon, which as many people believe, are a flash fad that will last for a few years and then die out. The company Trollbeads, who are considered the innovators of the concept of self build bracelets, were first launched in 1976.
The beginning of Trollbeads was small. There were no plans of world domination or theories of a radical overhaul of the jewellery industry. It was a Danish Jeweller who decided to make his daughters special gift something unique. This unique gift was to become what we now know as Trollbeads and it would be the first of many stepping stones for what is now a radical change in peoples jewellery buying habits.

It is this theory that is changing the jewellery market place and is damaging the sales of the formally untouchable catwalk fashion names.
